     "markdown": "خرج العباس بن عبد المطلب على بغلة النبي البيضاء يلتمس من يبلّغ قريشًا ليطلبوا الأمان قبل أن يدخل الجيش مكة عنوة {cite:ibn-hisham-saqqa 4/44}. فسمع كلام أبي سفيان و[[person/budayl-ibn-warqa|بديل بن ورقاء]] وهما يتعجبان من كثرة النيران التي ظنها أبو سفيان نيران بني بكر فأنكر عليه بديل {cite:ibn-hisham-saqqa 4/44}.\n\nردفه العباس خلفه ومضى به إلى النبي، فلقيه [[person/umar-ibn-al-khattab|عمر بن الخطاب]] فأراد ضرب عنقه، فأجاره العباس حتى دخل به خيمة القيادة {cite:ibn-hisham-saqqa 4/45}. وفي الصباح قال له النبي: «ويحك يا أبا سفيان، ألم يأن لك أن تعلم أن لا إله إلا الله؟»، فشهد بالتوحيد ثم تردد في الرسالة، فقال له العباس: «ويحك أسلم واشهد قبل أن تُضرب عنقك»، فشهد شهادة الحق وأسلم {cite:ibn-hisham-saqqa 4/45-46}."
