But Adud al-Dawla, in the narrator's words, was more prudent than that. He brought provisions and fodder, and those who knew the province of Mosul, settled there with confidence, and sent raiding parties in pursuit of Abu Taghlib. {cite:kamil-ibn-al-athir p. 507-508}\n\nAbu Taghlib sent asking to hold the lands in farm, and Adud al-Dawla did not answer him.
