  "ar": "في سنة ست وثمانين وخمسمائة خرج ملك الألمان — وهم نوع من الفرنج من أكثرهم عدداً وأشدهم بأساً — لما أزعجه ملك المسلمين بيت المقدس، فسار طريقه على القسطنطينية، وأرسل ملك الروم إلى صلاح الدين يعرفه الخبر ويعده أن لا يمكنه من العبور، فلما وصل عجز عن منعه لكثرة جموعه لكنه منع عنهم الميرة، فضاقت بهم الأزواد حتى عبروا خليج القسطنطينية إلى مملكة قلج أرسلان بن مسعود السلجوقي، فثارت بهم التركمان يسايرونهم ويقتلون من انفرد، والزمان شتاء والثلج متراكم فأهلكهم البرد والجوع والتركمان، فلما قاربوا قونية خرج إليهم قطب الدين ملك شاه بن قلج أرسلان ليمنعهم فلم تكن له بهم قوة، فأرسلوا إلى قلج أرسلان يقولون ما قصدنا بلادك وإنما قصدنا بيت المقدس، فأذن لرعيته في إخراج القوت وسلم إليهم نيفاً وعشرين أميراً رهائن، فسار ملك الألمان حتى أتى بلاد الأرمن فأمدهم صاحبها لافون بالأقوات، ثم ساروا نحو أنطاكية فنزلوا على نهر في طريقهم فدخل ملكهم يغتسل فيه فغرق في مكان لا يبلغ الماء وسط الرجل، فصار ولده ملكاً بعده وسار إلى أنطاكية فاختلف أصحابه فتخلف بعضهم وملّك بعضهم أخاً له فأسر فيمن صحت نيته وكانوا نيفاً وأربعين ألفاً، فوقع فيهم الوباء والموت حتى وصلوا أنطاكية كأنهم نبشوا من القبور، ولم يبق منهم إلا نحو ألف رجل ركبوا البحر إلى الفرنج على عكا {cite:kamil-ibn-al-athir p. 193-194}."
