     "markdown": "al-Mustakfi sent to Abu al-Husayn Ahmad ibn Buyah food and precious gifts. The oath was taken from him and he swore it, and the caliph swore to him and his two brothers, and a document was written to that effect, witnessed by the witnesses. He put on the robes of honour and had the collar placed on him, and was made Amir al-Umara', and according to Ibn al-Jawzi he was the first of the Buyid rulers. {cite:muntazam-ibn-al-jawzi p.632-633}\n\nHis elder brother Ali was given the title Imad al-Dawla, and his middle brother al-Hasan the title Rukn al-Dawla. Their titles and kunyas were ordered to be struck on the dinars and dirhams.
