     "markdown": "He was given the oath after his father was killed, and he deposed his two brothers al-Mu'tazz and al-Mu'ayyad from the succession. al-Suyuti says that he showed justice, removed fear from the family of Abu Talib, and restored Fadak to the family of al-Husayn. {cite:tarikh-khulafa-minhaj-1434 p.553-554}\n\nHe used to revile the Turks and say that they were the killers of caliphs, so they plotted against him. They sent his physician thirty thousand dinars, and he bled him with a poisoned feather. He died on the fifth of Rabi' al-Akhir 248 AH, aged twenty-six or less.
