     "markdown": "al-Baladhuri, in \"Ansab al-Ashraf\", relates that Laqit came on a brocade-covered brown horse, with a gilded saddle of the saddles of Khosrow, and he was the first Arab to be covered in brocade. Then a duel took place between him and [[person/shurayh-ibn-al-ahwas|Shurayh ibn al-Ahwas]]. Laqit's horse plunged over the bank, and Shurayh stabbed him so that he fell wounded. He died while mentioning his wife Dukhtanus, daughter of al-Nu'man, and the Banu Abs struck him after he was dead. {cite:ansab-al-ashraf p. 30-31}"
