     "markdown": "Farwa ibn Amr al-Judhami was an Arab commander among the Romans' officers and their governor over the Arabs adjoining them; his seat was Ma'an and the Syrian land around it {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p. 445; zad-al-maad}. He became Muslim after seeing the Muslims' fortitude and truthfulness at the battle of Mu'ta in year 8 AH, and sent the Prophet a messenger declaring his Islam and gifting him a white mule {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq pp. 445-446}. When the Romans learned of his Islam they seized and imprisoned him, then offered him apostasy or death; he chose death, so they crucified him in Palestine at a water called Afra' and struck off his head {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p. 446; zad-al-maad}."
