When the Aws sued for peace Banū'l-Najjār refused it, so the Aws put women and children in the strongholds before the Khazraj desisted.      "markdown": "The Day of al-Rabi was one of the days of al-Aws and al-Khazraj, after the Day of al-Jisr. They met at a wall at al-Sifh and fought until some of them nearly destroyed the others. Al-Aws were routed, and al-Khazraj pursued them all the way to their homes, contrary to the custom between them. Al-Aws asked for peace, but the Banu al-Najjar refused to answer them.
