The clans of Ma'add ibn Adnan branched from his son Nizar, who had four sons from whom four great tribes spread: Iyad, Anmar, Rabi'a and Mudar — the last two's clans grew many and their branches wide {cite:muhadarat-tarikh-al-umam-al-islamiyya}.\n\nFrom Rabi'a: Asad, Anaza, Abd al-Qays, and Wa'il's two sons Bakr and Taghlib, and Hanifa; from Mudar: Qays Aylan and the clans of Ilyas, among them Tamim, Hudhayl, Asad and Kinana — and from Kinana, Quraysh {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq}."
