In Fustat itself it names a foundation by Fath ibn Khaqan in 861, before the date it gives for Ibn Tulun {cite:tdv-bimaristan §İlk Bîmâristan Tesisleri}.\n\nThe compiler of the Tulunid biography, as quoted by al-Maqrizi, nevertheless says Egypt had no earlier maristan {cite:khitat-maqrizi-1998 scan p. 2337}. Neither account is deleted to manufacture a “first”: the priority claim remains attributed, while this record follows the specifically documented organization."

The hospital account belongs to this programme of urban building.\n\nAl-Maqrizi's page begins by quoting Abu Umar al-Kindi's Book of Governors: Ibn Tulun ordered a hospital for the sick, built in 259 AH. He then quotes the biographical compiler's date of 261 AH and the endowment of properties after completion {cite:khitat-maqrizi-1998 scan p. 2337}. The record does not automatically turn the difference into construction-start and opening dates: that is not what the text says.\n\nAl-Maqrizi also mentions 262 AH in an account of endowments for the hospital, a water installation and a mosque on the hill. He gives expenditure on the hospital and its income-producing property as sixty thousand dinars {cite:khitat-maqrizi-1998 scan p. 2337}. This is expenditure on an institution and its endowment estate in the account, not an annual budget or a sum paid to each patient."

His religious affiliation is recorded on that biographical basis, with the museum's Sunni default frame explicitly stated, not inferred from his name or Turkish origin.\n\nAl-Maqrizi refers to physicians, the custodian and attendants by their functions, without naming individual staff in this account {cite:khitat-maqrizi-1998 scan p. 2337}. The ruler is therefore not credited with diagnosis, preparing medicines or the builders' work, and unnamed physicians are not supplied with invented names."

The account combines household and financial organization with treatment, but does not identify medicines or methods for measuring their effectiveness {cite:khitat-maqrizi-1998 scan p. 2337}. A succession of hospitals in one city does not itself prove the copying of admission and discharge rules, so the data does not draw a documented transfer arrow between them.\n\nThe article keeps the example within the wider bimaristan history TDV describes, in Egypt, Baghdad, Damascus and elsewhere, without making Ibn Tulun the originator of every detail in that history {cite:tdv-bimaristan §İlk Bîmâristan Tesisleri}."

This concerns use of a legal and financial form, not a claim that Umar's land at Khaybar financed an Egyptian hospital.\n\nEarlier hospitals remain historical context, not a particular plan proven to have been copied.
