     "markdown": "Mulla Asad ibn al-Husayn al-Shirazi al-Farisi al-Shafi'i, mufti of the Shafi'is in Damascus. He came to Damascus in 964 AH with the secretary known as Shah Quli, and settled at the mosque of Shaykh Rislan in the house of his servant Shakir Effendi, devoting himself to worship, asceticism and seclusion, and avoiding mixing with the notables and leaders. The people of Damascus admired him, and the great ones and the scholars sought him out because of his broad learning and his integrity. {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 438-439}."

     "markdown": "His appointment to issue legal opinions was settled in 975 AH. He refined people by his tongue, his pen and his conduct. He issued opinions in the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus for a long period after al-Nabulsi. Then he stopped, and the scholar al-Ba'ani took his place for some days before he returned. He would not eat at his table from the endowment's money at all, and he did not accept gifts. He was among the most handsome of people in appearance and the most gentle. {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 439}."
