     "markdown": "Taqi al-Din Abu al-ʿAbbas Ahmad al-Shamni al-Qistantini, a Hanafi who later became a Maliki. He was born in Alexandria in Ramadan 801 AH and came to Cairo with his father. He recited the Qur'an under al-Zaratiti, studied with al-Shatnufi, attended the lessons of the judge al-Bisati, took hadith from al-Wali al-ʿIraqi, and excelled in many disciplines. Al-Suyuti, in \"Bughyat al-Wuʿat,\" calls him \"our shaykh, the imam, scholar, commentator, hadith scholar, expert in the principles of law, theologian, grammarian and master of rhetoric, the leading grammarian of his time,\" and praises him in a well-known poem. Shams al-Din al-Sakhawi gave him a licence to teach, and he taught and transmitted it. He lived in al-Jamaliyya and then was appointed shaykh and preacher of the tomb of Qaytbay the Circassian. He was asked to take up the judgeship of the Hanafis in Cairo in 868 AH, but declined. He wrote a commentary on \"al-Mughni,\" a gloss on al-Shifaʾ, a commentary on the abridgement of \"al-Wiqaya,\" and a commentary on the poem \"Nukhba\" on hadith terminology. Ibn al-ʿImad said that the shaykh kept showing him affection, love and respect, and praising him greatly.\n\nHe died near the evening prayer on the night of Sunday, the twenty-seventh of Dhu al-Hijja 872 AH {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 313-314}."

     "markdown": "تقی الدین ابو العباس احمد الشمنی القسطنطینی، پہلے حنفی اور بعد میں مالکی۔ وہ سنہ 801ھ کے رمضان میں اسکندریہ میں پیدا ہوئے اور اپنے والد کے ساتھ قاہرہ آئے۔ انھوں نے زراتیتی پر تلاوت کی، شطنوفی سے علم لیا، قاضی البساطی کی صحبت میں رہے، ولی عراقی سے حدیث سنی اور کئی فنون میں مہارت حاصل کی۔ سیوطی «بغیۃ الوعاۃ» میں کہتے ہیں کہ وہ ہمارے شیخ، امام، علامہ، مفسر، محدث، اصولی، متکلم، نحوی اور بیانی تھے، اپنے زمانے کے نحویوں کے امام تھے، اور انھوں نے ان کی مشہور قصیدے میں تعریف کی۔ شمس السخاوی نے ان کے لیے مشیخہ نکالا اور اس کی روایت کی۔ وہ جمالیہ میں رہے، پھر قایتبای الجرکسی کے تربہ میں مشیخہ اور خطابت پر فائز ہوئے۔ سنہ 868ھ میں قاہرہ میں حنفیہ کی قضا کے لیے ان کا نام پیش کیا گیا تو انھوں نے انکار کیا۔ انھوں نے «شرح المغنی»، «الشفا» پر حاشیہ، «شرح مختصر الوقایہ» اور حدیث میں «نظم النخبہ» کی شرح تصنیف کی۔ ابن العماد کہتے ہیں کہ شیخ مجھ سے محبت کرتے، میری تعظیم کرتے اور مجھ پر بہت تعریف کرتے رہے۔\n\nان کی وفات 27 ذوالحجہ سنہ 872ھ کی اتوار کی رات عشاء کے قریب ہوئی {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 313-314}۔"
