     "markdown": "Farwa ibn Amr al-Judhami was an Arab commander among the Romans' leaders and their governor over the Arabs near them; his seat was Ma'an and the lands of Syria around it {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p. 445}. He became Muslim after seeing the Muslims' valour, bravery and truthfulness of encounter at the battle of Mu'ta in year 8 AH {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p. 445; zad-al-maad}. He sent the Prophet a messenger with his Islam and gifted him a white mule {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p. 445}. When the Romans learned of his Islam they seized and imprisoned him, then offered him the choice between apostasy and death; he chose death, so they crucified him in Palestine at a water called Afra' and struck off his head {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p. 446}."
