His brother Rukn al-Din Sulayman drove him out of Konya, and he went to al-Malik al-Zahir in Aleppo, who treated him poorly. He then went to Constantinople, where the Byzantine king treated him well and granted him an iqta', and he married the daughter of a great patrician. When the Franks took Constantinople, he took refuge in the fortress of Hamida. {cite:kamil-ibn-al-athir p. 237-238}\n\nWhen his brother died in 600 AH, the Turks of the Uj summoned him, and he was defeated before Konya. Then the people of Aksaray proclaimed him, and then the people of Konya themselves, and he took the throne in Rajab and seized his nephew.
