He accompanied [[person/dihya-al-kalbi|Dihya al-Kalbi]] before the raid on them, and Dihya taught him Umm al-Kitab. {cite:ibn-hisham-saqqa 4/261} When the army of Zayd ibn Haritha came down upon the people, he was the spokesman of the Dubayb riders. They agreed among themselves that no one but he should speak, for fear of the tongue of his brother Unayf.
