Ibn Khaldun in *al-Ibar* relates that he once attended the majlis of al-Mansur and spoke in a way that he feared the consequences of, so he went into hiding for a time. {cite:tarikh-ibn-khaldun-ibar p. 1682}\n\nAfter the death of al-Mansur he appeared in the country of Kazula, claimed the imamate, and asserted that he was the Qahtani meant in the report of a man from Qahtan who would emerge and lead people with his staff. {cite:tarikh-ibn-khaldun-ibar p. 1682}\n\nAl-Nasir sent armies against him; they defeated him, he was killed, and his head was carried to Marrakesh and displayed there. {cite:tarikh-ibn-khaldun-ibar p. 1682}\n\nThis is what Ibn Khaldun's account alone reports.
