     "markdown": "He preached from early youth with complete acceptance at Egypt, Aleppo, Irbil, Medina and Jerusalem, held high standing with the Ayyubid kings of Syria and was present at the conquest of Jerusalem with Salah al-Din; the leadership of the madhhab came to him after Shaykh Muwaffaq al-Din Ibn Qudama, whom he had rivalled in life, and they differed over the fatwa on modern sama' — al-Nasih wrote a refutation of al-Muwaffaq's essay.
