     "markdown": "Zayn al-Din Ibn ʿAyyash of Mecca, an ascetic who lived to an old age. He was born in Damascus in Rabiʿ I 772 AH. He took the readings of the Qur'an from his father, both singly and in combination, and recited to him a complete recitation of the ten readings, using the book \"Waraqat al-Mahira fi Tatimmat Qiraʾat al-A'imma al-ʿAshara\" written by his father. He also read the ten readings under Shaykh Shams al-Din Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-ʿAsqalani, and so he matched his father in the height of his chain of transmission. He then travelled to Cairo in 791 AH and afterwards to Mecca, where he settled and set himself up to teach the readings in the Sacred Mosque every day. Ordinary people benefited from him, and he became the traveller's destination of his age. He went back and forth to Medina, stayed there several times, and taught there for some years. He then returned to Mecca and remained until he died there in 853 AH {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 277}."
