     "markdown": "Sarim al-Din Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Aydam ibn Duqmaq al-Hanafi, an Egyptian historian. He was born in Egypt around 750 AH and died in 809 AH. The conversion to the Gregorian calendar is derived. {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 89}\n\nAccording to *Shadharat al-Dhahab*, he dressed in the garb of the soldiers and sought knowledge, studied jurisprudence a little, then turned to literature and devoted himself to history. He wrote, or co-wrote, about two hundred volumes, among them a large history arranged by years and another arranged by letters, an account of the Turkish state in two volumes, a biography of the king al-Zahir Barquq, and the classes of the Hanafis.
