     "markdown": "Chief judge Kamal al-Din Abu al-Fadl Muhammad al-Jaʿfari al-Nabulsi al-Hanbali, known as Ibn Qadi Nablus. He was born around 830 AH into a long line of judges: his grandfather Sharaf al-Din and his father Badr al-Din were both chief judges. He was diligent, acquired learning, travelled the lands, and studied with shaykhs. Shaykh ʿAla al-Din al-Mardawi and Shaykh Taqi al-Din Ibn Qandus gave him licence to issue legal opinions. He excelled in his school, issued opinions and debated.\n\nHe first held the judgeship of Nablus as a deputy for his father, then held it in Egypt in place of al-ʿIzz al-Kinani, then in Jerusalem in place of al-Shams al-ʿUlaymi. The judgeship of Ramla and Nablus was then added to him, and he was dismissed and reinstated several times. He had knowledge of and skill in the rulings. Then he settled in Damascus for three years, went to the port of Damietta, took up a deputy judgeship, and set off from there. News of his death reached Cairo from Alexandria in 889 AH {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 348-349}."
