The Allahabad High Court judgment of 11 December 1997 states in its text: 'Justice Karamat Husain as well as Raja of Mahmoodabad, no doubt belonged to Shia community' — one source (the same judgment is mirrored on several legal websites and counts once). The branch-supporting context is strong and is preserved here: the suit concerned his waqf deeds (6 August 1908 and 1912) and the jurisdiction of the Shia Central Board of Waqfs over the institution he founded, and the biographical scholarship records that he studied with his uncle Sayyid Hamid Husayn, described as a learned mujtahid — but an uncle's scholarship is family background and formation, and never counts as the man's own attestation. No second independent source naming his affiliation was found: the college's founder page and the journal article call him a Muslim reformer and name no branch. If a second attestation is accepted, the mapping rule settles this segment as shia-twelver/documented with the mapping stated; on the founder's word it can also be settled from the judgment alone.",
