Al-Baladhuri says that al-Hajjaj sent him against Kharzad ibn Bas when he rebelled, joined Ayadhaj and took refuge in a fortress. When the siege dragged on, Kharzad came down in disguise to join Abd al-Malik, and Mukram caught him with two pearls in his cap. He sent him to al-Hajjaj, who had his neck struck.
