     "markdown": "After the battle between the two palaces in the year 564 AH, he put to the sword the Sudanese who had taken refuge in al-Jiza. In Jumada al-Ula of the year 568 AH he marched to the land of Nubia and besieged the fortress of Abzim until its people surrendered it. Then he saw how little the revenue was and how hard life was, and he returned to Egypt. Most of the booty was slaves and slave-girls {cite:kamil-ibn-al-athir p.18-19}.\n\nIbn al-Athir reports that the reason for the march was the fear of Salah al-Din and his family that Nur al-Din would enter Egypt, so they wanted a land to which they could withdraw {cite:kamil-ibn-al-athir p.45-46}."
