     "markdown": "Shaykh Midin Khalifa al-Ashmuni, the ascetic. His origin is from the descendants of Shaykh Abu Madyan. His grandfather had migrated as a poor man from the Maghrib and settled at a Tablayya in al-Minufiyya, then moved to Ashmun, where Midin was born. Midin studied knowledge until he gave legal opinions, then set out in search of the path, going to find a shaykh in Egypt. His departure coincided with that of Shaykh Muhammad al-Ghamri. A man of the states met them and directed them to a certain ascetic. The opening came to Midin within three days, and to al-Ghamri fifteen years later.\n\nHe was a man of high resolve, had great honour in the path and a long hand in Sufism. Many scholars, righteous men and poor people benefited from him. He was granted marvels. One was that the minaret of his lodge began to lean, and he was told it must be demolished. He climbed up with the engineer and pressed his back against the leaning minaret, and it straightened. Another: when Sultan Jaqmaq ran short of money he sent to ask for his blessing. The shaykh sent him half a column of metal which weighs as much as silver. Its price was placed in the treasury, and the sultan's affairs grew prosperous. The sultan said, \"Kings are the reality of these people.\" Another: an elderly man came to him wanting to memorise the Qur'an. He told him to enter a retreat and to occupy himself with the remembrance of God, and that God would help him memorise it. The next morning the man had memorised it.\n\nHe died on Wednesday, the ninth of Rabiʿ I 892 AH, and was buried at his lodge {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 361-362}."

     "markdown": "شیخ مدین خلیفہ اشمونی زاہد تھے۔ ان کی اصل شیخ ابو مدین کی اولاد سے تھی۔ ان کے جد اعلیٰ مغرب سے مفلسی کی حالت میں نکلے اور منوفیہ میں ایک طبلیہ میں ٹھہرے، پھر اشمون منتقل ہوئے، جہاں ان کے ہاں مدین پیدا ہوئے۔ مدین نے علم حاصل کیا یہاں تک کہ فتویٰ دینے لگے، پھر راہِ طریقت کی تلاش میں نکلے اور مصر میں ایک شیخ کو تلاش کرنے گئے۔ ان کا نکلنا شیخ محمد غمری کے نکلنے کے ساتھ ہی ہوا، اور راستے میں ایک صاحبِ احوال شخص ان دونوں سے ملا اور انہیں ایک زاہد کی طرف راہنمائی کی۔ مدین کو تین دن میں فتح نصیب ہوئی، اور غمری کو اس کے پندرہ سال بعد۔\n\nوہ باہمت تھے، طریقت میں ان کا مقام بلند اور تصوف میں ان کا اثر گہرا تھا۔ بہت سے علما، صلحا اور فقرا نے ان سے فائدہ اٹھایا۔ ان سے کئی کرامتیں منسوب ہیں: ایک یہ کہ ان کی زاویہ کی مینار جھک گئی، تو کہا گیا کہ اسے گرانا ہی ہوگا، تو وہ انجینئر کے ساتھ اوپر چڑھے، اپنی پیٹھ مینار سے لگائی تو وہ سیدھا ہو گیا۔ ایک یہ کہ جب سلطان جقمق کا خزانہ تنگ ہوا تو انہوں نے ان کی دل جوئی کے لیے ایک پیغام بھیجا، اور انہوں نے ایک چاندی کے وزن کے برابر دھات کا نصف ستون بھیجا، جس کی قیمت بیت المال میں جمع ہوئی اور حال کشادہ ہو گیا؛ سلطان نے کہا کہ بادشاہ دراصل یہی لوگ ہیں۔ ایک یہ کہ ایک بوڑھا آدمی قرآن حفظ کرنے کی خواہش لے کر ان کے پاس آیا، تو انہوں نے کہا کہ خلوت میں جا کر اللہ کا ذکر کرو، وہ تمہیں یاد کرا دے گا، تو وہ صبح تک اسے حفظ کر چکا تھا۔\n\nوہ سنہ 892ھ کے ربیع الاول کی نو تاریخ، بدھ کے دن فوت ہوئے اور اپنے زاویہ میں دفن ہوئے۔ {cite:shadharat-dhahab p. 361-362}"
