     "markdown": "Ibn al-Athir reports that he ordered Ka'b ibn Amr al-Mazini to be watched until he was killed. The war of the Banu Jahjaba and the Banu Mazin broke out, and in it he was defeated and entered his fortress {cite:kamil-ibn-al-athir p.513}.\n\nMas'ud ibn Mu'tib al-Thaqafi came to him seeking an alliance of the Ansar against the Banu Malik. He refused, and provided him with weapons, provisions and a slave who built fortifications. Then he built the first of the fortresses of al-Ta'if {cite:kamil-ibn-al-athir p.513}."
