     "markdown": "Uthman ibn Abi al-As was the youngest of Thaqif's six delegates {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p. 448}. The delegation would go out to the Prophet each morning leaving Uthman with their baggage; when they returned he would go to the Prophet and have him review his Qur'an and ask him about the religion — and if he found him sleeping he would go to Abu Bakr for the same purpose {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p. 448}. The Prophet appointed him over Thaqif for being the keenest of them to learn Islam, the religion and the Qur'an {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq p. 448}. Al-Mubarakpuri mentions he was among the greatest blessings for his people in the Ridda's time: he said to Thaqif when they resolved to apostatise — \"people of Thaqif, you were the last of people to enter Islam; do not be the first to apostatise\" — and they held back from apostasy and held firm on Islam {cite:mubarakpuri-raheeq pp. 448-449}."
