     "markdown": "Ibn Khaldun transmits from his teacher al-Ayyili, from Sultan Abu Hammu Musa, that his father had instructed him not to meet the Banu Marin in the open, and to take refuge behind the walls. Yusuf ibn Ya'qub besieged Tlemcen in the year 698 AH. The amir Abu Zakariyya sent him his armies, and the defeat was inflicted on the army of the Almohads at the Mountain of al-Zab, in the battle of Marsa al-Ru'us. Uthman erased the name of the Hafsid caliph from the pulpits of Tlemcen {cite:tarikh-ibn-khaldun-ibar p.1855}.\n\nThe book reports that his kingdom extended between Tlemcen and Bejaia.
