He compiled for the amir Abu Zakariyya Yahya of the Hafsids the book \"al-I'lam bi-l-Hurub al-Waqi'a fi Sadr al-Islam\" (Notice of the Wars that Took Place in Early Islam). Ibn Khallikan looked at it and found his words those of one who knows the craft.
