     "markdown": "al-Qadi al-Fadil relates that when he came to the chancery of correspondence as a boy, he asked him what he had prepared for the art of writing. He answered that he had nothing but the memorising of the Qur'an and the book al-Hamasa. Ibn al-Khallal said that this was sufficient eloquence. Ibn Khallikan doubted the report, because al-Qadi al-Fadil did not enter Egypt until the days of al-Zafir {cite:wafayat-ayan p.219-220}."
