     "markdown": "Samura is a city in the kingdom of the Galicians (al-Jalaliqa). Al-Mas'udi described its fine construction and walls. Abd al-Rahman al-Nasir, ruler of al-Andalus, besieged it with a hundred thousand men or more. The battle between him and Radhmir, king of the Galicians, took place in Shawwal of the year 327 AH, three days after the eclipse.
