In year 11 of the Hijra the Prophet ﷺ fell gravely ill in Medina, then died in the house of his wife Aisha on a Monday. His Companions grieved deeply, and Abu Bakr reminded them that God is living and does not die, and that Muhammad His Messenger had passed like other men.

The death of the Prophet
A grown-up reads you the short text; the longer one you read yourself.
The Prophet died in Medina in 11 AH (632 CE) after a short illness, in the chamber of Aisha bint Abi Bakr (may God be pleased with her) inside the Prophet ﷺ's Mosque. His last affairs had been the Farewell Pilgrimage and enjoining the people to prayer, and in his final illness he had Abu Bakr lead the prayer. He died at sixty-three on the common account, and the people of Medina were occupied that day by the meeting at the Saqifa of Banu Sa'ida and the pledge to Abu Bakr; he was buried in Aisha's chamber where he died. The sira books record his last words on prayer, those under his care and the hereafter, and the Companions' shock until Abu Bakr addressed them with the verse on the death of messengers.
