Accessing the data
The data is dedicated to the public domain (CC0): clone the repository with git clone https://github.com/amado2k5/islam-museum.git or read it via https://islam.museum/api/v1/…. The full guide to the three extraction routes is in docs/data/README.md.
The Quran text
The Quran text is the Tanzil v1.1 transmission, kept verbatim and never edited; attribution to Tanzil is required and given wherever it appears.
Media and images
Every media record carries one of these whitelisted licences; the validator refuses anything else. The museum links rather than copies wherever it can.
| Licence | Records |
|---|---|
| CC0 | 232 records |
| CC-BY | 5 records |
| CC-BY-SA | 15 records |
| PD | 32 records |
| VAM-NC | 187 records |
Museum catalogues and IIIF
Object pages link to the holding institutions' catalogues; 187 objects also carry IIIF manifest links. Those images and manifests remain the institution's own.
Per-version registry
The museum publishes from git: every release is a commit and every record carries its own provenance. The licence state at each point in time is the commit log.
