Khalid ibn al-Walid's mission to Banu al-Harith ibn Ka'b, their conversion and their delegation
A grown-up reads you the short text; the longer one you read yourself.
The Prophet sent Khalid ibn al-Walid (may God be pleased with him) to Banu al-Harith ibn Ka'b at Najran in Rabi' al-Akhir or Jumada al-Ula of year ten, ordering him to invite them to Islam before fighting them for three days — to accept them if they answered, and fight if not. Khalid went, reached them, and sent riders striking into every quarter calling to Islam and saying 'people, enter Islam and be safe'; the people entered Islam and what they were called to, and Khalid stayed teaching them Islam, God's Book and His Prophet's sunna, as the Prophet ﷺ had charged him should they enter without fighting. He wrote the Prophet that he had called them three days as ordered, sent riders among them, and they entered without fighting, and that he was staying among them teaching the landmarks of Islam until the Prophet wrote him; the Prophet wrote back to give them glad tidings and warning, and to come bringing their delegation.
