Jarir ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Shalil al-Bajali, Abu Amr, of Bajila, entered Islam in the year the Prophet ﷺ died. He was the utmost in beauty and height — Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) called him 'the Yusuf of this nation'. He lived at Kufa until Ali's caliphate, then moved to Qarqisiya.

Jarir ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Shalil al-Bajali, Abu Amr, of Bajila, entered Islam in the year the Prophet ﷺ died, lived at Kufa until Ali's caliphate, then moved to Qarqisiya. He was the utmost in beauty and height — Umar called him 'the Yusuf of this nation'. At al-Qadisiyya he fought Mihran in single combat and brought him down. Tasked with the idol-house of Dhu al-Khalasa — 'the Yemeni Kaaba' of Khat'am — he rode to it and burned it, and the Prophet prayed for his steadfastness and guidance.
