Khadija bint Khuwaylid

A grown-up reads you the short text; the longer one you read yourself.

Khadija bint Khuwaylid (may God be pleased with her) was the Prophet ﷺ's first wife and the first person to believe in him. She was a rich Qurashi merchant who hired the young Muhammad for her trade and then married him, and she bore his children. She stood with him through the hardest years and died around 619 CE.

Khadija bint Khuwaylid (may God be pleased with her) ibn Asad al-Qurashiyya, one of Mecca's noblest women and its merchants, hired Muhammad to lead her trade caravan to Syria — the sira records the reports of her servant Maysara on his honesty — then proposed marriage, and they married around 595 CE. She was the first to believe in his call when the revelation came, praying with him from the very beginning. She bore his children: al-Qasim and Abd Allah (al-Tahir, al-Tayyib), Zaynab, Ruqayya, Umm Kulthum and Fatima. She stood with the Prophet ﷺ through the three-year blockade in the quarter and sheltered him through the years of persecution until she died around 619 CE; the Prophet praised her as the one who believed him when people denied and supported him with her wealth. For Sunnis she is a Mother of the Believers, the first of wives and the first of the believing women.
