Summary
Ayşe Kadın Camii is a single-unit mosque built in 1468 for Ayşe Kadın, a daughter of Mehmet I 1.
Form
It once had a three-bayed porch, now vanished; unusually, the entrance is on the right-hand side beside the north-west minaret; the hemispherical dome, nearly eleven metres across, rests on squinches and is raised outside on an octagonal drum with small semidomes at the corners 1.
For young visitors
A sultan's daughter built it in 1468 — a little mosque with a big dome and a door on the side, not the middle.
