Summary
The roadside group
Five Ottoman monuments stand at Büyükçekmece: the oldest, Fatih Camii, built by Mehmet II soon after the conquest of Constantinople; the other four are all by Sinan — a caravansarai and this bridge for Süleyman, and a medrese and mescit for Sokollu Mehmet Pasha 1.
For young visitors
A bridge of twenty-eight arches Sinan built more than 450 years ago still carries the great west road.
