Overview

Al-Musnad is the script of Himyar. The Himyarites wrote with it in forms that differ from the shapes of the alif, ba and ta of Arabic. 2

Ibn al-Nadim's report

Ibn al-Nadim relates from a trustworthy source who heard elders of Yemen say this. He also saw with his own eyes, in a part of the library of al-Ma'mun, a translation of it into the Himyaritic script, and he recorded its form as it appeared in that copy. 2
