Summary
In 780 Ibn al-Mulaqqin — a companion of Barquq — wrote in his own hand a promised sum to Amir Baraka while seeking the judgeship; Barquq denied the arrangement, produced the letter and, furious, confined him in the stable bound for the money, until Akmal al-Din al-Babarti and Siraj al-Din al-Bulqini won his release. He never entered the judicial deputyship again 1.
