Abu Mansur al-Baghdadi taught in seventeen fields, a man of dignity and means; Abu Uthman al-Sabuni said of him: he was among the imams of the principles and the leading men of Islam by the consensus of the people of merit; Abu Bakr al-Bayhaqi, Abd al-Ghaffar ibn Shiruya and Abu al-Qasim al-Qushayri transmitted from him, al-Bayhaqi read jurisprudence under him and Nasir al-Marwazi read to him; the date is approximate within his mastership after 418 and before his departure in 429.
