    Overview

Abdul Malik Mujahid is an American imam, producer, author and non-profit executive of Pakistani origin, based in Chicago. 1

He was born in Pakistan in 1951. 2

He is the founding president of Sound Vision, a Chicago non-profit that develops media content on Islam and Muslims, established in 1988. 1

The Muslim Network TV YouTube channel — about 347,000 subscribers as of October 2026, a platform figure that changes constantly — is a project of his Sound Vision Foundation. 3

    Career and work

He is the executive producer of Radio Islam, Chicago's daily Muslim talk programme on WCEV 1450 AM, produced by Sound Vision. 1

He was Chair of the Board of the Parliament of the World's Religions from 2010 to 2015, is among the original signatories of the Parliament's 1993 declaration "Towards a Global Ethic", and has addressed the Parliaments held in Cape Town, Barcelona and Melbourne. 1

He has been selected repeatedly as one of the 500 most influential Muslims in the world; the Parliament's biography counts four such selections. 1

He chairs Burma Task Force USA, a coalition of nineteen organisations working on the Rohingya crisis, and as national coordinator of Bosnia Task Force USA he led the campaign, run with the National Organization for Women, to have rape declared a war crime. 1

He has authored more than 400 articles on interfaith relations, Islamic living, domestic violence, public policy and Islam–West relations. 1

In April 2020 Sound Vision soft-launched Muslim Network TV in North America as the mainstream Muslim television channel of the United States, and Mujahid himself appears on the network in his "Mujahid Talks" segments. 4 3

    Positions and criticism

This section should be read as a presentation of different positions reported by the sources, not as a verdict of the museum on them.

His public work is framed by his own organisations as media and interfaith bridge-building: Sound Vision presents its output as content that lets Americans discover their Muslim neighbours, and the Parliament's biography presents him as a builder of coalitions across faiths. 3 1

The sources consulted name no Islamic school or madhhab for him personally: Wikidata records his religion as Islam without a school. 2
