Overview
Al-Malik al-Mas'ud, lord of Amid; al-Malik al-Kamil besieged him in 630 and battered his city with mangonels, and seeing defeat he came out with a kerchief round his neck — al-Kamil pardoned him and took the city. 1
His character
Asked to surrender the fortresses he gave them all save the castle of Kayfa, for which al-Kamil tortured him with every kind of torment — he hated him; al-Mas'ud was dissolute, seizing free women by force until they found five hundred freeborn girls in his palace. 1
