Summary
Arda Güler is a Turkish professional footballer who was born in Altındağ, Ankara, on 25 February 2005.12 An attacking midfielder who broke through at Fenerbahçe, winning the Turkish Cup in 2023, he joined Real Madrid that summer and won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League in his first season.1 At Euro 2024 his goal against Georgia made him the first teenager to score on a European Championship debut since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2004.1
Early life
Güler began playing at the Ankara club Gençlerbirliği in 2014 and was discovered by Fenerbahçe at thirteen, joining their youth academy in 2019.1 He signed his first professional contract with Fenerbahçe in January 2021 and made his senior debut in a Europa League play-off against HJK Helsinki that August, becoming the club's youngest European debutant.1
Club career
In his first Süper Lig season Güler became Fenerbahçe's youngest goalscorer in the competition, and in June 2023, having inherited the number ten shirt, he scored in the Turkish Cup final as Fenerbahçe beat İstanbul Başakşehir.1 In July 2023 he signed for Real Madrid on a six-year contract, and in his first season he won La Liga and the Champions League, scoring six league goals despite an injury-hit start.1 He played at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and, as the English article records, at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored his first World Cup goal in a win over Australia.1
International career
Güler played for Turkey at under-17 and under-21 level and made his senior debut in a friendly against the Czech Republic in November 2022.1 At Euro 2024 he scored a long-range goal in the opening win over Georgia — the tournament's youngest scorer and the first teenager to score on his European Championship debut since Cristiano Ronaldo — and provided two assists as Turkey reached the quarter-finals.1
Positions and criticism
This section presents the positions found in the sources; it is not a verdict by the museum. Neither article attests a religion for Güler: the English article has no personal-life section and contains neither "Muslim" nor "Islam" anywhere in its text, and the Arabic article's infobox has no religion field and its text makes no statement.12 Wider web coverage describes him as a devout, practising Muslim — descriptions of practice that name Islam only in the generic.12 Under the museum's two-source rule, which requires two independent sources to name a school for the person himself and does not count practice, his school is therefore recorded as unknown.12 The English article also records the criticism he drew in 2023 for liking a social-media post by Mesut Özil that criticised Israel, a post he later unliked.1
