Summary
Belal Assaad is an Australian imam and preacher based in Melbourne, where he was born and has lived throughout his career. His official YouTube channel, launched in 2023, carries his English lectures and sermons and had about 493,000 subscribers in October 2026. 1 An independent tour organiser's biography describes him as a globally renowned Islamic speaker with over twenty-seven years of da'wah and community lectures. 2
Education and career
By his own biography, distributed with his official podcast and channel, he holds a degree in Shari'ah and Da'wah from the Ad-Da'wah Wal-Irshad University Institute in Tripoli, Lebanon, completed in 1995. He went on to study biomedical science at Victoria University, took a postgraduate degree in teaching science and student welfare there, and a second postgraduate degree in migration law and practice from the Australian National University. 1
The tour biography corroborates the same course of studies and adds that he worked for over two decades as a secondary school teacher and counsellor, and that he is a registered imam and marriage celebrant with the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils. 2 Alongside his school work he has delivered Friday sermons and public lectures in Australia and abroad for more than twenty-seven years, with a focus on youth, religion, mental health and socio-cultural questions. 1
Positions and faith
This section should be read as a presentation of what the sources give, not as a verdict of the museum.
No source consulted names a legal school or theological affiliation for Belal Assaad personally. The sources give his Shari'ah degree from an institute in Tripoli and his registration as an imam; an institution's milieu and an imam's registration are background, not a school attestation for the man, so no faith value is recorded for him. 1 2
