Summary
In Ibn Hibban's al-Thiqat
Ibn Hibban listed him in al-Thiqat among the Successors and again among their followers: "Bukayr ibn al-Akhnas narrates from Anas ibn Malik; Mus'ar ibn Kidam narrates from him if he heard him" 3. The Tahdhib shows the name read variously as al-Sadusi and al-Laythi al-Kufi, records that he is said to have heard Anas ibn Malik, and identifies him — on al-Bukhari's view — as the son of the al-Akhnas already mentioned 1.

For younger visitors
Bukayr ibn al-Akhnas was a Kufan narrator among the Successors whom the critics of al-jarh wa-l-ta'dil declared trustworthy, and his father al-Akhnas ibn Khalifa was likewise a narrator who heard Ibn Mas'ud.
Notes for researchers
- Entry in al-Thiqat vol. 4 p. 76 (Da'irat al-Ma'arif scan); editor's digest at Tahdhib entry 2067, scan p. 279.
- The Tahdhib records his nisba variously as "al-Sadusi" and "al-Laythi"; the epithet "Bukayr al-Dakhm" belongs to a different man, Bukayr ibn Abd Allah al-Ta'i, and must not be conflated.
