Governor of Kwara
He governed Kwara State from 29 May 2003 to 29 May 2011 on the Peoples Democratic Party platform, winning re-election in 2007. His administration led reforms in agriculture, infrastructure, health and power — including the Shonga Farms programme — connected over 3,750 rural communities to the national grid, and from 2007 he chaired the Nigeria Governors' Forum, through which he led national polio-immunisation efforts 1.
President of the Senate
He entered the Senate for Kwara Central in 2011, and on 9 June 2015 was elected the thirteenth President of the Nigerian Senate under the All Progressives Congress, serving to 2019. On 31 July 2018 he left the ruling party and returned to the PDP, becoming opposition leader; he contested the PDP presidential primaries for 2019, lost to Atiku Abubakar, and then directed Atiku's presidential campaign 1.
Affiliation, as the sources attest it
The English article makes no statement of Saraki's religion anywhere in its text and files him only in the category "Nigerian Muslims", a filing, which never counts. Wikidata gives a single structured value, Islam, with no school; and his father's prominence in Kwara politics is family background, which is not an attestation either. With no source naming a school, the museum's record keeps the value unknown 1 2.
