Summary
Haitham al-Haddad is a British Muslim television presenter and Islamic scholar of Palestinian origin who grew up in Makkah. 1 He sits on the boards of advisors of Islamic organisations in the United Kingdom, including the Islamic Sharia Council, and is the chair and operations advisor and a trustee of the Muslim Research and Development Foundation. 1 Wikidata records his religion only as Islam generically. 2
Education
He gained a PhD at SOAS, University of London, with a thesis submitted in 2010 entitled "A critical analysis of selected aspects of Sunni Muslim minority fiqh, with particular reference to contemporary Britain"; in Medina he studied with a student of Ibn al-Uthaymeen, and he also obtained a civil engineering degree in Sudan. 1
Positions and faith
Read this section as the report of the sources, not as a museum ruling.
The English Wikipedia infobox gives his denomination as Sunni, a single unreferenced value in one source family, and Wikidata gives his religion only as Islam generically. 1 2 His thesis topic is a research subject and his Medina teacher's affiliation is his teacher's, not attestations of his own school. Under the two-source rule, and because doubt leaves a value unclassified, his faith is recorded as unknown.
