Education

Summary

Nur al-Din Ibn Aqbaras the Egyptian Shafi'i; born about 802; heard hadith from al-Nasir al-Antaki, al-Zayn al-'Iraqi and Shaykh al-Islam Zakariyya, taking fiqh from him, and he stayed with Ibn Hajar and wrote much from him; he exercised judgeship, moved through offices, and held sole oversight of the awqaf of Egypt under al-Malik al-Zahir Jaqmaq when al-Hafiz Hamza ibn al-'Imad was deposed or shortly before, leaning heavily on him — the oversight of Egypt's awqaf stayed in the hands of his sons and grandsons; he died in Ramadan 862 on its first night. 1
