Overview

Khawwat ibn Jubayr ibn al-Nu'man ibn Umayya al-Ansari al-Awsi, brother of 'Abdallah ibn Jubayr, the Badr veteran and commander of the archers; his kunya was Abu Salih — some say Abu 'Abdallah. In the Jahiliyya he was the keeper of Dhat al-Nahyayn, then he embraced Islam and excelled. 1

Badr and death

He set out for Badr but at al-Rawha a stone's edge struck and broke his leg; the Messenger of God ﷺ sent him back to Medina yet allotted him his share and reward, so he counted as one who had attended. He died in Medina in 40 AH aged seventy-four; he dyed his hair and was a stocky man. 1
