Summary
Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Salim Bazmool is a Saudi scholar born in Makkah. He is a professor in the Department of the Book and the Sunna at the College of Da'wa and Usul al-Din, Umm al-Qura University, and his specialisation is the sciences of the Qur'an and of Hadith. 1 2
No source consulted publishes a birth date for him; the Al-Mrj3 biography states that his birth date is unspecified and that he is in his sixties, so no birth date is recorded here. 2
Career
Bazmool took his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Umm al-Qura University; his master's thesis treated the mudtarib hadith, and his doctorate was a takhrij (source-tracing) of the hadiths in al-Tabarani's Al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. 1 2
At Umm al-Qura he held academic and administrative posts: acting head of the Department of Qira'at, acting vice-dean of the College of Da'wa and Usul al-Din for academic affairs, and director of the Centre for the Revival of Islamic Heritage, before settling as professor in the Department of the Book and the Sunna. 1
He travels outside the Kingdom on dawah tours, giving lessons and lectures in centres and mosques. 2
In the Hajj season of 1443 AH (2022) the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom commissioned him, among a number of scholars, to answer pilgrims' questions, in his capacity as ifta commissioner for the Makkah Region. 3
Works
His books published and listed on his author page at Al-Daleel Online include "Akhlaq al-Tabib al-Muslim" (The Ethics of the Muslim Physician), "Ithaf al-Anam bi-Sharh al-Sunna wa-Ahkamiha Tamaman", "Is'af al-Hayran bi-Fihris Ma'ani al-Qur'an", "Laysa min Usul al-Fiqh", "Laysa min Manhaj al-Salaf", "Al-Amn Mas'uliyyat al-Jami'" and "Al-Yusr wa'l-Samaha fi'l-Islam". 4
His lessons and lectures circulate in audio and video on dawah channels and platforms, and his Twitter account, which he joined in December 2012, had more than 37,000 followers according to the Al-Mrj3 biography published in January 2025 — platform figures recorded with their date. 2
Positions and criticism
This section sets out what the sources report; it is not a verdict by the museum.
The Arabic sources present him as a scholar of Qur'an and Hadith sciences occupied with university teaching, ifta and dawah, and his books and articles turn on the Sunna and its rulings, legal theory and professional ethics. 4 2 No independent critical coverage of him was found in the sources consulted, and the museum records only what the registered sources establish. 2
